vinyasa yoga series

as we explore new ways to connect with our community, we have invited yoga instructor lindsay parmer to lead us in a weekly yoga class at the studio during the month of august.  if you're looking for a unique experience, please join us this thursday, july 29 for our first morning session of power vinyasa yoga. vinyasa is the linking between movement, poses and breath...you can learn more about the practice here.

chagall & chardonnay

we had a great turnout for our first chagall and chardonnay event last night. our artists were introduced to the work of marc chagall and enjoyed a short lesson on the history of his art career. while sipping wine and interacting with instructor david gonzalez, they were encouraged to create sketches of various images to incorporate in their painting.

once the sketches were complete it was time to begin selecting colors...and getting messy. several samples of chagall's paintings were available to inspire the students to be bold in their color choices.

we can hardly wait until the next event in august...and hope to have a full house again for the evening. if you couldn't make it last night and want to ensure a space on august 20, you can sign-up online here.

painting in the window at lululemon in houston on saturday

jodie had the opportunity to paint BIG at the lululemon storefront in highland village over the weekend. a yoga-inspired image seemed perfect for the athletic apparel shop, which hosts film events and free yoga classes to encourage community health.

jodie's sister works in the houston store and partners with various groups to create an interactive experience for weekend shoppers. mariposa studio was grateful for the chance to get out of the studio and do something fun in the community!  we gave away original artwork by jodie as well as gift certificates to upcoming events and workshops at mariposa studio. thanks for your support, casey!

the art piece measures almost 5 feet by 5 feet and will be featured for a short period at the store...stop by and take a peek!

join us in the studio for our summer events!

mariposa studio will begin hosting wine and painting events, entitled Chagall and Chardonnay, this month. have you grown bored with your routine and ready to get more creative? sick of the dinner-and-a-movie date nights?  or need a girls night out?  Chagall and Chardonnay is the perfect solution for a midsummer's night.

our first event will be held on friday, july 23 from 7:00-9:00pm. the evening will include a brief history on the work of marc chagall and instruction on creating your own unique style. we provide all necessary materials (including the wine!) and you go home with your own piece of art. for additional details, please see the events page.

david is also preparing for his solo show, Mystical Visions, which will be available for viewing on saturday, july 24. the show is a culmination of a decade's worth of work, focused on his spiritual journey. we will have an open studio on saturday in conjunction with neighboring Iyollo Gallery.
